Prof. dr Ljubica Knežević Cvelbar je redovni profesor na Ekonomskom fakultetu Univerziteta u Ljubljani i gostujući profesor na više od 30 univerziteta širom svijeta. Dr Ljubica Knežević Cvelbar ima 15 godina akademskog i profesionalnog iskustva kao profesor, istraživač i konsultant. Učestvovala je, kao istraživač ili konsultant, u više od 70 projekata, uključujući projekte finansirane od strane Evropske komisije i UNDP-a. Vodila je nekoliko istraživačkih i konsultantskih projekata za vlade Republike Slovenije, Hrvatske, Makedonije i Crne Gore, kao i mnoge opštine i mala i srednja preduzeća. Autor je Strategije održivog razvoja turizma Slovenije 2017-2021 i Strategije razvoja turizma Grada Ljubljane 2021-2027. Objavila je više od 50 članaka u stručnim naučnim časopisima za turizam, uključujući i one najpriznatije u svijetu, kao što su: Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research i Journal of Sustainable Tourism. Njena bibliografija obuhvata manje od 300 naučnih ili stručnih radova, uglavnom iz oblasti turizma. Istraživački rad Ljubice Knežević Cvelbar značajno je uticao na održivi razvoj turizma na globalnom nivou i nagrađivan je najznačajnijim međunarodnim naučnim nagradama u turizmu, uključujući i nagrade za izvrsnost Tea Sinclair (2016, 2019) i 2019.godine Charles R. Goeldner. Prof. dr Ljubica Knežević Cvelbar je takođe član uređivačkog odbora šest međunarodnih akademskih časopisa i član je AIEST-a (Svjetske mreže turističkih eksperata) i članica uredništva šest međunarodnih akademskih časopisa , AIEST-a (svjetske mreže turističkih stručnjaka), a od oktobra 2020. i predsjednica Strateškog razvojno-inovacionog partnerstva za održivi turizam (SRIPT).
